What does this mean for us, particularly for us men? Well, aside from spiritual matters, which are by far the most important, we need to be ready on a physical level. We, humans, are spiritual beings, but we are also physical beings, and we have a duty to protect ourselves and others if threatened.
Especially us men. We have the responsibility to be the defender and protector, as is God's role for us. There can be no excuses. We have had too many of those.
So it’s time to get off the couch and be ready! It’s time for us men to stop being so sedentary and be active and ready to move if need be!
The terrorists, bad guys, they’re all ready and willing, when cooperating with evil, to destroy the things we love and yet us men have a hard time putting down the video games, the tv remote, and preparing!
We know we must prepare spiritually for combat, that much is clear, but after that, it’s as if the lines blur and we can’t see that we also have the duty to be ready to defend those we love. Yes, having the conviction and willingness is a great start, but then we must ask ourselves the question “Are we physically able?”
Every moral man is willing to lay down his life for others if need be... but that’s not the goal, the goal is to be able to subdue the threat and walk out of there with those you were protecting.
The times are getting more hostile. Years ago the attacks we are now experiencing would be seen as impossible. But they are here.
As a young man, I am asking my fellow young men to stand up and say enough! Step up the prayer and sacrifice, but also the physical readiness. Be mentally ready, think about situations which could develop and how you would respond, how you should respond.
For instance: I was flying back from Ohio, and as I was waiting for the plane to take off I was playing scenarios out in my head of what I would do if, say a terrorist ran down the aisle heading for the cockpit. How would I react? Where would I strike? How fast would I have to move?
This isn’t being paranoid, no, this is being logical due to the world we now live in. But this is what I’m talking about. Not being scared but being ready. No fear, only confidence that if a situation should go south you have some knowledge of what to do in response.
Part of the incentive for me writing this is the fact that since my last blog post there has been yet another terrorist attack on London Bridge. And I’m sick of it.
So here I am trying to rally my fellow men! Be ready, this stuff will come to the United States before long, and in some states is already here. We must be ready all the time. No fear, but confidence.
God bless you all. Zac.
