I want to start off with a story. I have a friend who is currently at a christian college, living on campus in a small, Midwest university. The stories my friend tells me of the struggles are quite frightening. My friend tells me of all the immorality, the despondency, the selfishness, the promiscuous lifestyles, the partying.
And the fact that none of these college students care how their immoral behaviors are impacting everyone else around them.
Instead of seeing how my friend is behaving, daily rosary, mass on Sundays and holy days, devout prayer life, and use of sacramentals, instead of following THIS example, they actually shun and try to tear down my friend for living differently than they do.
This is a small, christian Midwest campus! And the problems are this bad. You would think here, of all places, things would be better off. Well that’s not the case. This is how far we’ve come, in the wrong direction.
Things are not okay, contrary to some popular opinion, and they are continuing to get increasingly worse, and won’t get better unless we acknowledge the problems and turn them around. Which we can do if we realize there are problems. It seems hardly anyone embraces the reality that there are problems, or that we would need to make an effort to change the course we’re headed.
If we only, ONLY, took the issue of abortion, the murder of children, that alone would be reason enough to wake up and change things. But we have even more than that, from the violence, corruption, selfishness, immorality, the breakdown of marriage and the family. It’s rampant.
What more do we need to see unfold in our world before we wake up and go, with conviction, to God? Because the hope is there! And so is the grace! We only have to reach up and take it. God is waiting for us, using our free will, to choose Him, and His love and mercy will be right there for us. But we must choose it. God bless you. Zac.
