Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and so we should take care of them. In 1 Corinthians 6:19 St. Paul says, “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?” He goes on to say in the next verse, “For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.”
We should take care of anything which God gives us, and be mindful stewards of the gifts given to us. And one of the greatest things God has given us is our bodies! So we should take care of them.
Here are some ideas of how we can do this: 1) Cut down on the junk food. 2) Stop excessive smoking or drinking. 3) Be more active.
Am I a personal trainer? No. But have I been working out since I was 7 years old, yes, and I’ve learned a lot from my father, Doug Barry... Who you’ve probably heard of!
Now, for that third step, if you want to take it to the next level, and get some ideas for that here you go.
1) 3 sets of 20 push-ups
2) 3 sets of 20 sit-ups
3) Run a mile
If you don’t know what a “set” is, basically it means you do it one time. So 3 sets mean you to it 3 times.
I know for some this may seem like a lot, and for some, it won’t be enough, so obviously you can change it up to fit your needs. These are just some examples to get you started.
The body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit! Maintain the Temple! Ave Maria!
God bless, Zac.
