To be honest, the past month and a half I’ve really been out of my groove, sometimes barely squeezing even one workout in a week. Which, for me and where and what I’m trying to do, is not being true to the commitment I made.
You might be thinking ‘wow, it’s okay take it easy, it’s not that important,” and to a certain point you’re right. But for one thing. I made a commitment to myself and I’ve been breaking it. Part of it was due to being busy, but there was also some laziness in there.
Why am I telling you this?
Because I’ve made a decision. A decision to train and prepare my body as best I can in order to better do whatever God calls me to.
As a young man of practically perfect military age, and all the talks and threats of a World War III, I have an obligation to make sure I would be ready if I had to be. And if nothing happens, and I have a normal life, I want to be in the best possible health to be there for my vocation, be it religious life, priesthood, marriage. As a priest I need to be able to answer a hospital call at 3 am and be able to move fast to get to a bedside for Last Rites, or as a husband be able to help my wife with duties around the house, with children, all while not breaking my back or saying my knees are giving out when I’m only 32.
You get my point.
It is hard to stay strong, mentally, and committing to doing your best to be healthy and strong for the tasks God has called you to. It just is. We all need help, inspiration. That’s why I tell you what’s going on with me, to try to help. I find that when someone tells me what’s going on inside their head it helps me re-motivate myself.
Workout idea for the day!
- 4 sets of 20 push-ups
- 4 sets of 25 sit-ups
- 4 sets of 30 air squats
God bless you all! Zac.
