What Is The Valiant Woman?
We are all called to be BATTLE READY. Men and women, young and old alike are all called to take up spiritual arms against those things that undermine and weaken what is good, noble and true.
A woman has a powerful influence in the world, especially in the life of a man. She can build him up or tear him down. God said that it was not good for Adam to be alone. He created woman to compliment and complete him. Every woman has the great mission to raise the nobility of a society.
“When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more noble her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women.” - Venerable Fulton J. Sheen -
No woman can say that she is not deeply involved in the fight for souls. She, just as some men do, may not accept the reality of this responsibility or the importance of her role, but the enemy, the devil, does understand the power a woman has in this battle.
It was the humble, strong YES of a woman that began the mission of salvation on earth for Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Do not underestimate the need for every woman to be BATTLE READY in the truest sense of the word. A woman's impact on the world should never be underestimated.
We encourage you to sign up the men in your life or forward the BATTLE READY e-mails and videos to them to help them in the fight. And sign up yourself to receive the e-mails if you would like to. We all need reminders that we are the Church Militant and we need to act upon it with hope and zeal.
~ Ave Maria ~
The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God
Mary was a Jewish woman of Nazareth in Galilee, born to humble and virtuous parents, Joachim and Saint Anne. Mary, a young girl, probably very similar to other young women at the time, was also set apart-full of grace, conceived without sin. As Mary lived her life, carrying out the duties and roles she was obligated to, Gabriel, an angel from the Lord, appeared to her.
“In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the Virgin’s name was Mary.”
Mary, being chosen out of all women of all ages was “full of grace” (Luke 1:28) and “Blessed among all women” (Luke 1:42) in order to be sought out for the most honorable and humbling task of all mankind, to bear in her womb, the Son of God.
The Blessed Virgin was conceived without sin and bore the Lord, Jesus Christ, made flesh, in her very own womb, how could we not call her “Blessed” or “Full of grace?” The Lord would choose only one woman out of all time to bear His only, begotten Son. This may lead all of us women to consider how this woman, this young girl, this human would have conducted herself as a woman in the truest sense of the word.
Mary was the Most Valiant of all women. Existing with the very purpose to bring the Son of God into this world, subsequently Jesus could save all of us from our sins, conquer all darkness and death, open the gates of Heaven and defeat evil, all pivotal on a small, humble, “Yes.”
Women, may we be like the Virgin Mary in everything we do. Let us be a Valiant Woman of our time, resembling Mary, the Mother of God. Let us be mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, Consecrated women, lay women or whatever our vocation in life may be, let us live it valiantly. Discern God’s Will, never despair, always listen, always love and always, always say, “Yes” when our Lord, calls. For that is being a Valiant Woman.
-The Influence of Women in Society-
Living up to a standard is a concept we all get. But the flip side can be easily forgotten – living down to a standard. This is just as real as living ‘up’ to a standard, and the effect is the exact opposite. Spiritually, we’re all tempted to live ‘down.’ It’s easier, and you don’t risk standing out by going against a crowd. And when it comes to the spiritual battle, living ‘down’ is exactly what the enemy of salvation wants. So, he goes about doing everything he can to set the standard low. Sometimes his ways are subtle, sometimes they’re in-your-face. Either way, he doesn’t want you to realize what you could be if you decided to live for a higher standard.
Women, it’s incredibly easy to go with the current and live ‘down’ to a lower standard! It’s too easy to let worldly distractions and opinions tie us down. We can form society, or we can let society form us. There is a real spiritual fight going on here, and the part we play is crucial. But when a lady forgets how valuable she is and how powerful her dignity is, she can be easily persuaded to live ‘down.’ Ladies, we do not realize how much influence we have in this world, and how badly the enemy is trying to neutralize it!
1: The capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.
Realize this: a woman’s ability to impact society is powerful, and when a woman is in line with God, the world cannot control her! Archbishop Fulton J Sheen points out how a woman’s influence can impact the people in her life, and then goes on to emphasize that she is capable of impacting all of society:
“When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more noble her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women.” - Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Also realize this: in the spiritual battle, a woman who tries to live up to the highest standard possible – God’s standard – is feared by the enemy. She is a Valiant Woman. The enemy will do everything he can to diminish her. There’s a lot of ways he can do this, but one of the most blatant and unruly ways is through a godless society. We see it everywhere today. The dignity and confidence of womanhood is belittled through false images of love and acceptance. We can easily forget our ability to nurture life, our inclination to be compassionate, our intuition, our grace, and our talents. These are very real! We have the ability, the obligation, and the strength to inspire, to love, to heal. We have the ability to fight and defend what we love. We are capable of great and undaunted courage. No matter what position you are in – a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend – you impact every person around you both directly and indirectly. You alone decide whether that impact will be positive or negative.
Since God is out-of-this-world, fighting a worldly current and striving for His standards is far from easy. Don’t give up. Stay close to your weapons and instruments of grace: The Church and her sacraments are your strength! God isn’t going to let a woman who is striving to serve Him drown. Go to Mary, who is both His mother and ours. It is she who the demons fear to the point of trembling. She is our most powerful defendant. She is the Valiant Woman of all time!
Mary help of Christians, pray for us.
"Thank you, every woman, for the simple fact of being a woman! Through the insight which is so much a part of your womanhood you enrich the world's understanding and help to make human relations more honest and authentic."

The Woman And The Dragon
A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth. Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems. Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth. She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne. The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God, that there she might be taken care of for twelve hundred and sixty days.
Then war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.
Revelation 12: 1-9
When the dragon saw that it had been thrown down to the earth, it pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle, so that she could fly to her place in the desert, where, far from the serpent, she was taken care of for a year, two years, and a half-year. The serpent, however, spewed a torrent of water out of his mouth after the woman to sweep her away with the current. But the earth helped the woman and opened its mouth and swallowed the flood that the dragon spewed out of its mouth. Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus.
Revelation 12: 13-17
