The sacrament of confession is there for us, there for us to cleanse our souls in God’s everlasting mercy. Don’t fall into the game where you think God could never forgive you. I mean, just being honest here, are you claiming your faults are more powerful than the one who created the universe, the one who created you?
When we feel this way, that is the devil talking in our heads, shaking us up, keeping us away from God’s mercy.
Here’s my point for today’s blog. How long has it been since you’ve last been to confession?
The Church teaching on this point is that we have to go at least once a year.
If I only needed to go to confession once a year, I’d be a saint.
The point of going to confession isn’t even always that you have to confess some grave sin, it’s that personal encounter with Christ! Confession is a sacrament and a powerful one at that. The devil hates when we humans make a good confession. And hey, if the devil hates it, then I’m all for it!
I personally try to go to confession every one to two weeks. Because it’s that encounter with Christ in the sacrament which is important here. The more you partake in a sacrament, the more graces you are able to absorb.
That’s how it works. It isn’t a point system where when we partake of a sacrament we get to tally up the new points we’ve won, no. It’s like... Let me use the analogy of working out. The more you workout, and really workout well, with the right form, nutrition, and drive, the more results you will see and feel with your strength.
The same for a sacrament, the more focus, intention, and love you put into it the more it will benefit. I’ve talked about this before, where it’s all about the place of our hearts in the act.
So, how long has it been? Should you go to confession? Maybe it’s been a long time, or a short while. It doesn't matter, God is always there for YOU. He’s not too tied up with Billy, or Bob, to love you. He loves you perfectly, and we can’t even know what that’s like! Wow, when you think about it, it’s incredible! God is here for YOU.
Alright, talk to you soon, signing off. Zac.
